The Addams Family

The Addams Family is the 1960s sitcom about Gomez, Morticia, Wednesday and the rest of the creepy clan, and in Norway it turns up on general entertainment feeds rather than a dedicated retro slot. In this country it usually airs dubbed in Norwegian, so the jokes land in bokmål and the theme tune gets a local voice. Don't expect a curated marathon. Episodes surface in daytime and early evening gaps, often next to quiz shows and imported dramas, which is exactly how General tv Norway has always treated vintage American comedy. The black-and-white prints are mostly clean, though some broadcasts still carry the original mono mix. It's a strange fit for a Norwegian schedule: the humour is dry and macabre, and the local audience tends to prefer warmer family fare. But that mismatch is the fun of it.
