NRK2

NRK2 is the public broadcaster's second channel, and it wears its ambition lightly. Where NRK1 goes for mass appeal, NRK2 fills its schedule with documentaries, foreign dramas, and cultural programming that assumes you can handle subtitles. It's not a channel for background noise, you sit down for this one. The programming mix leans heavily into arts and current affairs; expect extended interviews with authors, archival concerts from the Norwegian National Opera, and coverage of events like the Bergen International Festival. That said, it does run a few lighter shows, late-night repeats of British panel shows and the occasional Nordic crime series that could just as easily sit on NRK1. The news broadcasts are decent, though they're shorter than the flagship Dagsrevyen on NRK1. For a general TV Norway option that treats viewers like adults, NRK2 delivers consistently.
