The Addams Family

The Addams Family isn't a channel, it's a sitcom, so what you're actually getting here is a Swedish general broadcaster slotting the 1964 black-and-white original into its schedule. That's a very Swedish thing to do, by the way. Public and commercial general channels here have long treated vintage American comedies as reliable filler between news bulletins and regional programming, and Gomez, Morticia, and the rest of the clan fit that slot perfectly. Expect late-afternoon or post-prime placement, Swedish subtitles rather than dubbing, and commercial breaks that interrupt Thing's entrances at the worst possible moment. The upside: it's a genuinely sharp show beneath the gothic gags, with dialogue that holds up better than most sixties sitcoms. Watch The Addams Family online if you want comfort viewing that doesn't insult your intelligence. The pacing is slower than modern comedy, and the laugh track will test some viewers, but the writing lands. For anyone tracking General tv Sweden, this is a solid reminder that the country's schedulers still know how to program a decent half-hour.
