Xena: Warrior Princess

Xena: Warrior Princess earns its slot on a Norwegian general channel the same way it did everywhere else: the show refuses to age. A warrior, a bard, and a redemption arc that never quite resolves, all shot in New Zealand with swords that wobble and dialogue that doesn't. Norwegian viewers get it in the original English with Norwegian subtitles, which suits the show better than a dub ever would. Lucy Lawless sells the camp and the sincerity in the same breath, and the Norway schedule treats it as a nightly ritual rather than a binge drop. That's the right call. The standalone episodes hold up stronger than the mythology-heavy arcs. Watch Xena: Warrior Princess online and you'll notice the tonal whiplash between slapstick and genuine grief is the whole point, not a flaw. This is General tv Norway at its most nostalgic: one imported cult series, stripped across the week, doing quiet work after the evening news. Not prestige television. Better than most of what calls itself that now. The action choreography looks cheap in 2025 and somehow that helps.
