TVCARiB Radio

TVCARiB Radio is less a radio station and more a low-key general TV channel serving the Dutch-French island of Sint Maarten. The programming is a hybrid of talk-show chats recorded in someone's living room, local music videos that look like they were shot on a camcorder, and island news that actually covers council meetings and hurricane prep. It's not slick television, production values are basic, the hosts sometimes fumble their lines, and the schedule feels more like a community bulletin board than professional broadcasting. That's also its charm. There's an authenticity you won't get from polished Caribbean networks. You'll hear Papiamento and English mixed in roughly equal measure, with occasional French from the Saint-Martin side. The music blocks lean heavily on soca, reggae, and zouk, often programmed by a DJ who clearly loves the genres. If you want to understand daily life in Sint Maarten beyond the cruise-ship port, TVCARiB Radio is the closest thing to a living room window. Just don't expect HD graphics or tight segues, that's not the point.
