Silent Witness and New Tricks

This channel exists for one reason: two of Britain's longest-running crime procedurals. Silent Witness brings the forensics, painstaking autopsy scenes, labyrinthine plots, characters who exist only to solve murders. New Tricks is its looser, warmer cousin, following a cold-case squad of retired cops with more banter and fewer latex gloves. The programming runs in double-bill blocks, a format that rewards stamina. Four episodes back-to-back is a lot of dead bodies, but the tonal whiplash between the two shows keeps it from feeling grim. Production looks like it was pulled straight from BBC America's archives, grainy early seasons, then a sharp jump to HD around 2010. No news, no talk shows, no filler. If you're a fan of either series, it's a reliable place to catch reruns. For casual viewers, the lack of variety might feel suffocating after hour three. Still, it's an honest channel: it promises exactly what the name says and delivers nothing else. Rinse, repeat, and try not to get too attached to the guest stars.
