History Japan is the local feed of A+E's global franchise, and it's a mixed bag. The daytime schedule is padded with Ancient Aliens reruns, you'll see the same guy with the hair five times a week. But the channel finds its footing in the evening, when it airs Japanese-dubbed versions of their flagship WWII documentaries. The Pacific War docs are surprisingly detailed, though the editing can feel rushed compared to the US originals. What's missing: Japanese-produced history content. Almost everything comes from the American or British library, so you get coverage of the samurai era through a Western lens.
