Hi-YAH!

Hi-YAH! is an odd beast, a US-based channel that curates Asian content for a non-Asian audience, but doesn't quite commit to being either a film channel or a general entertainment hub. The programming leans heavily on martial arts cinema and action-heavy dramas from the 2000s, with occasional variety show blocks that feel like filler. The curation is where it gets interesting: the team actually knows its catalog, pulling deep cuts from Shaw Brothers and newer Thai action flicks that Western streaming services ignore. But the scheduling is erratic, you'll get three Jackie Chan movies in a row, then a random K-drama rerun, then a travel show about street food in Taipei. There's no cohesive identity, which makes it hard to recommend as a destination channel. Still, for someone who wants to watch Hi-YAH! live for that one obscure Jet Li film at 3am, it's a niche worth exploring. The video quality is solid, and commercials are mercifully short. If you're into Asian pop culture but tired of the algorithm pushing the same Netflix titles, give it a spin. Just don't expect consistency.
