Friday the 13th - The TV series

This one's an oddity: a Swedish-language cult horror anthology built around a shop full of cursed antiques. Each episode hands a new object to a new victim, and the two leads spend the hour tracking it down before it does more damage. It's episodic in the old sense, so you can drop in anywhere without a recap. The dubbing is earnest rather than slick, and honestly that's part of the charm. Production is late-eighties television all the way: fog machines, synth stings, sets that wobble when someone slams a door. Nobody's pretending otherwise. Where it works is atmosphere. The show understands that a creaking floorboard beats a jump scare, and the weekly structure gives you a tidy, self-contained fright rather than a season-long mystery you'll forget by episode four. There's grain, there's cheese, and there's a real pleasure in watching a genre flex its muscles on a television budget. If your taste in horror runs to moody, low-fi and a little ridiculous, this is the Series tv Sweden slot for you.
